Every year on February 2 people keep an eye out for a groundhog's shadow to help predict what the weather will be like for the next few weeks. The legend goes that if groundhog Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow we will have six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't, spring will arrive early.
Phil is not new to the forecasting game. The ceremony has been going on since 1887. Scientifically speaking, winter will officially come to an end on the equinox on March 20, regardless of what Phil predicts. But Mother Nature doesn't always follow the timetable.
Whatever Punxsutawney Phil says, we better start preparing for spring on time.
As much as we all try to stick to our workout routines no matter what, the cold weather and shorter days during the winter often lead to less working out and more Netflixing. Then suddenly the days start getting longer, the temperature starts to rise, and you realize that swimsuit season is right around the corner! It’s time to spring back into shape.
Did you fall behind in your fitness endeavors? Are you ready to kick up your exercise program for some accelerated calorie burning? The most important thing is to choose a workout that you’ll actually enjoy doing and comfortable clothes that makes you feel good. As you’re re-establishing a routine, it’s a lot easier to convince yourself to go to the gym if you’re looking forward to it.
Spring is such an exciting time; it’s an excuse to start fresh. Why not make good use of this time and start to expertly prepare your home and garden, as well as you do for your body, for spring? Bring some new joy to it.
